Let’s Talk! Ep. 13 | Are You Too Busy to Hear God?
What if you're so busy doing things for God that you've stopped making time to actually be with Him?
In Episode 13 of Let's Talk!, Billy sits down with Pastor Dale Oquist and Pastor Dawson Oquist to continue the conversation from Sunday's message, "Wait for More," in our MORE series.
Jesus gave His disciples the greatest mission in history: take the Gospel to the world.
But before they went, He told them to wait for the Holy Spirit.
Why would Jesus give them such an urgent mission and then tell them to stop?
Because accomplishing God's purposes was never meant to happen through human strength alone.
In a world filled with instant answers, packed schedules, and constant productivity, we can become so busy serving God that we forget to spend time with Him.
This week, Billy, Dale, and Dawson explore the tension between waiting and going, what it means to depend on the Holy Spirit, and how to recognize when spiritual activity has replaced genuine spiritual dependence.
Pastor Dale shares a practical way he pauses and invites the Holy Spirit into moments of stress and uncertainty.
Dawson challenges us to consider whether the Holy Spirit has full access to our lives.
Together, they discuss how to wait on God when we don't feel like He's speaking, why spiritual experiences should always lead us closer to Jesus, and how making room for the Holy Spirit changes our everyday lives.
The same Holy Spirit who empowered the early church is still at work today.
Maybe the more we're looking for isn't about doing more.
Maybe it's about surrendering more.

Use these questions with your small group, family, friends, or for personal reflection:
Jesus told His disciples to wait before beginning their mission. Where in your life might you be moving ahead without first seeking God's direction?
Pastor Dale talked about the difference between doing something through the Holy Spirit's power and simply pushing through in our own strength. Have you experienced that difference?
Are there areas of your life where busyness or productivity has replaced meaningful time with Jesus? What might need to change?
Dawson challenged us to consider whether the Holy Spirit has full access to our lives. Is there an area where you're still holding on to control?
What does your prayer life look like? Do you make time to listen and reflect, or are you usually asking God for something before moving on?
What is one practical way you can create space for the Holy Spirit this week, and how might that change the way you love, serve, or share Jesus with others?
THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE
Before you reach for your phone or start your day, give God your attention.
Open His Word, spend a few moments in prayer, and make space to listen.
Ask: "Holy Spirit, what do You want to do in me today? And how can You use me to help someone else encounter Jesus?"
Then be willing to respond when He leads.
Take a moment to pray:
Jesus, thank You for sending the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for the times we've tried to accomplish everything through our own strength. Teach us to slow down, listen, and trust Your direction. Give us hearts willing to surrender and courage to follow wherever You lead. May Your Spirit make us more like Jesus and help others encounter Him through our lives. Amen.
